Summary
Improving sustainable livelihoods for border communities programme aims at reducing irregular migration and supporting vulnerable groups by promoting cross-border trade, addressing non-tariff barriers and enhancing access to finance.
ITC will support livelihoods development activities for the border communities by :
- Improving financial support to small and medium enterprises and setting-up alternative income activities for cross-border traders, such as manufacturing masks, soap and disinfectant gels;
- Addressing non-tariff barriers to cross-border trade and Improving merchant relations with cross-border agencies to improve the overall climate for trade;
- Organising cross-border social cohesion activities involving multiple communities, such as trade caravans and promotion of cross-border trade;
- Supporting establishment of community based savings tools to enhance economic inclusion and empowerment, particularly among women and youth.
