    ITC’s Opportunities are Here project provides young talents in front of and behind the camera with tailored mentoring, networking opportunities and media exposure, and generates new trade capacity and export opportunities in the film sector.  

    This project targets young creatives in Uganda and is designed to incubate and accelerate their talents through specialized training in the film industry, allowing participants to acquire competencies and gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

    2. Discovering talent in Uganda 

    Opportunities Are Here is a captivating reality TV show aired on NBS Television in Uganda, following the inspiring journeys of young Ugandans as they dive into the exciting and transformative world of filmmaking. Open to candidates from all walks of life, Opportunities Are Here invites aspiring talents to showcase their potential. Leading creative professionals from the film industry carefully review applications, seeking individuals with exceptional drive and dedication. Only the most promising and committed candidates are selected to appear on the show. 

    3. Skills for jobs

    OAH helps young creatives develop their talent and acquire skills to further their own careers in the exciting cultural and creative industries, or to set up a business employing other talented women and men. Skills are both technical, depending on the role individual young people aspire to, and managerial, to ensure their career or business is viable and rewarding. 

    Hands-on-Training and expert workshops on: 

    • How to pitch creative projects to get them funded 

    • How to set up and manage a creative business 

    • Multimedia sales, promotion and marketing 

    • Quality, intellectual property and copyrights

    4. Project results to date 

    To date, in Uganda, OAH has facilitated opportunities for 5,329 creatives to engage with both local and international business networks in the film industry. Additionally, 47,563 creatives have reported an increased awareness of the global film landscape through online masterclasses, while 250 beneficiaries have received specialized training through online programmes. The initiative has also contributed to job creation, supporting and generating 1,313 employment opportunities. Furthermore, OAH has trained 40 young producers, financed and produced 13 short films by emerging filmmakers, and reached over 900,000 people through targeted campaigns across radio, television, and social media. 

    5. Supporting young filmmakers on their journey  

    Past beneficiaries of OAH have achieved remarkable success, including: 

    • Winning awards for projects developed during the programme. 

    • Receiving local and international nominations for film awards. 

    • Earning scholarships for further studies. 

    • Securing funding for film projects. 

    • Obtaining contracts for various roles in the film industry. 

    • Showcasing their projects at film festivals both locally and internationally.
