Trade Information Training upgrades trade advisors online skills
Trade
advisors from around the globe are currently at ITC headquarters in Geneva,
Switzerland to take part in the latest Trade Information Training Programme.
The eight day course, finishing on Wednesday 23 November, covers a number of
information management and information resource themes, ranging from topics
such as the identification of useful information sources to the role of Web 2.0
in trade information management.
The course is intended for managers and officers of business information services in trade promotion organisations, chambers of commerce,
business associations and other organisations involved in searching, processing
or disseminating trade information.
One of the participants in the course, Mr. Abdur Rauf, a
Commercial Counsellor based at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Berlin, said that
he was finding the course of use and described how “the training focused on
three main stages of information management. Firstly the collection of trade
related information, then the tailor made processing of this information and
finally the dissemination to end users, be they exporters, trade support
institutions or policymakers. This process is very important to anyone working
in trade support in any country”.
His colleague, also a Commercial Counsellor, from the Embassy of Bangladesh in Brussels, Mr. Tapan Kanti Ghosh, expanded on this by
saying, “What I’ve found particularly interesting is the part of the training
which focuses on using social media to promote our work. Trade support institutions
around our country are increasingly using Web 2.0 tools such as Facebook and
Linked In”.
