Uzbek delegation's study visit to Armenia on dried fruits
Five small businesses and two business support organizations from Uzbekistan visited Armenia to meet other companies working with dried fruits. They made company visits, joined workshops with industry representatives, and met with other businesses.
From 2 to 5 September 2024, a delegation from Uzbekistan visited Armenia to explore the country’s small-scale dried fruit production and processing industry. The delegation visited small businesses in the Ararat and Armavir regions, which produce a variety of dried fruits.
During the visit organized by the International Trade Centre (ITC), the Uzbek delegation studied the experiences of nine Armenian dried fruit producers. They explored both traditional and modern drying technologies used by Armenian producers. They also learned about the processing of dried fruits and the production of value-added products such as dried fruit snacks, pastilles, chocolates, and other sweets. The visit focussed on branding, packaging, and labelling that meets European market standards, even for small quantities.
At a joint workshop and in business meetings, Armenian and Uzbek businesses showcased their current operations and discussed potential cooperation. The discussions also covered important topics such as food safety and certification requirements. The visit concluded with the identification of several potential avenues for future cooperation between the two countries' dried fruit industries.
