Qadri Company: Boosting competitiveness in Jordanian textiles
The Qadri family started their leather and textile business on the outskirts of Amman in 1998. After years of steady growth within Jordan, by 2020 their costs were rising but their market wasn’t growing. They realized they needed to modernize and expand to other countries. That’s where the International Trade Centre (ITC) came in.
As ITC experts looked at Qadri’s operations, they identified what was keeping the company from competing regionally: rising production costs, fragmented workflows, and limited digital presence.
‘We knew we needed to modernize but lacked the expertise,’ said Ihab Qadri, the company’s owner.
By working with the MENTAX Jordan project at ITC, Qadri Company received tailored support in resource efficiency, innovation, and branding. As a result, sales grew by 27% as the business grew internationally.
‘Supporting companies like Qadri is exactly what MENATEX Jordan is about — empowering small businesses to innovate, compete, and grow sustainably,’ said Project Manager Eman Beseiso. ‘By helping firms align with new market requirements, such as environmental standards and responsible production practices, we aim to unlock even greater results and ensure that Jordanian businesses are ready to thrive in a rapidly evolving global market.’
Cutting costs with renewable energy
Small businesses like Qadri are the backbone of Jordan’s economy. And Qadri’s success shows how MENATEX works to strengthen industrial competitiveness in the Middle East and North Africa.
Cutting costs with renewable energy: With MENATEX’s guidance, Qadri implemented a solar energy system and optimized resource use, which slashed their energy expenses by 15%. ‘The savings allowed us to reinvest in innovation,’ said Qadri.
Leaner operations, stronger output: Production lines were redesigned using lean principles, reducing waste and shortening lead times. A technician at the factory noted, ‘Workflows are smoother, and our team can focus on quality.’
Reaching global markets: A new website and targeted campaigns boosted Qadri’s visibility. Participation in trade fairs like the MAGIC Show in Las Vegas led to contracts with buyers in Europe and the Gulf. ‘We went from local workshops to international showrooms,’ Qadri said.
The collaboration also prioritized long-term growth:
Skills development: Training in quality management elevated employee expertise.
Innovation & design: Consultations helped develop products aligned with market needs.
Business networking: Professional meetings connected Qadri with investors and suppliers.
‘MENATEX didn’t just provide tools—it transformed our mindset,’ says Qadri. He now plans to explore e-commerce and sustainable materials, with ongoing support from MENATEX. ‘This is just the beginning,’ Qadri said.
