Partnering with CCPIT Commercial Sub-council to empower Chinese firms to trade
Through a partnership between the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Commercial Sub-council, thousands of Chinese businesses, policymakers, and academia have been able to use the Global Trade Helpdesk to navigate the complexities of global trade and seize opportunities in the international market.
Having launched its Chinese version earlier this year, the online platform offers trade intelligence tailored for businesses, particularly small businesses, thereby integrating information from across 11 partner agencies, including data on imports, market dynamics, tariffs, regulatory requirements, and insights into trade finance, e-commerce marketplaces, and digital payment systems. Access to these resources enables even small businesses to make informed decisions and expand their global footprint.
Local partnerships for the benefit of small business, policymakers, and academia
The collaboration between ITC and CCPIT Commercial Sub-council represents a sustained commitment to empowering micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and strengthening the business ecosystem in China.
Here are a few recent highlights of this partnership:
- In August, international trade professors from different colleges in Harbin City, enjoyed the first webinar on the Global Trade Helpdesk in Chinese, and the user engagement has been growing over 140% since.
- In September, the 8th China Forum on Standardization of Trade in Services as part of the 2024 China International Fair for Trade in Services in Beijing, saw the launch of the Trade Development and Standards Cooperation Initiative. Co-organized by the CCPIT Commercial Sub-council and business representatives, the initiative highlights the importance of using the Global Trade Helpdesk to access valuable resources, including tutorials, training sessions, webinars, and in-depth data on market dynamics and regulatory requirements. By leveraging this platform, stakeholders seek to enhance trade development and standards cooperation, thereby fostering greater coordination in the trade sector.
- At the Conference on Promotion of institutional Opening-up in Standards and the China Forum on Standardization of Management System on 14 October, World Standards Day, in Dezhou, Shandong Province, YAO Xin, Secretary-General of the CCPIT Commercial Sub-council, highlighted the strategic value of the Global Trade Helpdesk. The dialogue among government department officials, business support organizations, representatives from China Pilot Free Trade Zone and enterprises, as well as professionals in international trade, raised awareness on how the Global Trade Helpdesk can enable Chinese MSMEs to expand their overseas activities and inform policy processes on connecting local market to global trade.
