

Pakistani small businesses shine at MEDICA 2024
At MEDICA 2024, the world-renowned trade fair for medical technology and healthcare in Düsseldorf, Germany, 14 Pakistani small businesses have showcased their products and innovations.
Beneficiaries supported by the UK Trade Partnerships (UKTP) programme, funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, highlighted the instrumental support in enhancing their global competitiveness.
All 14 participating companies making surgical instruments, benefited from comprehensive coaching and training, which played a pivotal role in enhancing their global competitiveness. They successfully completed digital and marketing training sessions and received tailored one-on-one coaching to refine their business strategies. Their participation at MEDICA, offers a vital opportunity for these businesses to expand their reach, build business leads, and tap into new markets.
‘The MEDICA exhibition was an excellent platform for showcasing our products and connecting with global industry leaders. The ITC Pavilion provided great support, enhancing our visibility and credibility,’ said Zaka Ullah CEO of Zaki Industries.
Technimen Agha, which displayed at MEDICA last year, met a British partner and opened a joint venture in the United Kingdom, thanks to their participation.
The event attracted over 5,000 exhibitors and 120,000 visitors from nearly 70 countries, offering the businesses a prime platform for potential sales and collaboration. Beneficiaries reported 85 business leads, with a potential value of nearly $2.6 million.
The UKTP programme plays a pivotal role in empowering Pakistani small businesses, enabling them to participate in international platforms like MEDICA so they can elevate their business prospects in the global marketplace.
About the Programme
Since 2019, the United Kingdom Trade Partnerships (UKTP) Programme has aimed to boost trade from developing countries to the UK and EU by leveraging UK and EU Economic Partnership Agreements and the UK’s Developing Countries Trading Scheme. Funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, the programme collaborates with government agencies, private sector organizations, small businesses, and other stakeholders to enhance market access, provide advisory services, and strengthen business support organizations. It focuses on export-ready SMEs and complements UKTP initiatives in the Pacific.
