In today’s rapidly evolving geopolitical and business environment, firms are always exploring new opportunities. The ITC Global Trade Helpdesk provides the information that businesses need to grow internationally.

Last week over 700 businesses from around the globe showcased their products and services at the second annual China International Supply Chain Expo in Beijing.

The Expo connects businesses with academics, research groups, and business organizations to promote trade, foster investment, and encourage learning and exchange.

A special session at the event unpacked how the companies can use the Global Trade Helpdesk at the International Trade Centre (ITC) to identify and compare trade opportunities across markets. The Chinese version of the online platform was released in July thanks to the support of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

‘The Global Trade Helpdesk is an actionable and effective trade intelligence tool for fostering trade development and the standards cooperation initiative,’ said Jack Yao, Secretary General of the CCPIT Commercial Sub-council.

The platform simplifies market research for Chinese firms by bringing together information from across 11 agencies and 14 databases into a single search. With this key trade and market intelligence, firms can identify and compare opportunities across markets.

To show businesses how to access that data, CCPIT hosted a dedicated session on Trade Development and Standards Cooperation, which featured an introduction to the Global Trade Helpdesk.

Sylvie Cochin, Chief of the Office of Asia and the Pacific at ITC, thanked CCPIT for their long-term partnership. She highlighted the strong collaboration on the Global Trade Helpdesk, participation in the China International Supply Chain Forum, and collaborations to grow links between businesses in China with other regions.

ITC also hosted a booth at the Expo, which showcased the Global Trade Helpdesk and the ePing database of regulatory updates. The booth showcased sustainable investment by Chinese companies in areas like tea production in Kenya. The Expo facilitated many fruitful interactions with buyers from diverse markets.
