ITC organizes social media roundtable for Geneva development community
With the spread of smart phones and the internet in developing countries, international development organizations are increasingly making use of social media tools to reach their clients, according to participants at a social media roundtable organized by ITC in Geneva yesterday.
Participants from GAVI Alliance, United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), World Trade Organization (WTO) and ITC have shared their experience and best practices, including the importance of using more accessible, everyday language to reach their audience. “Our colleagues need to learn to write the way they speak,” said Miklos Gaspar, web manager and acting head of communications at ITC.
ITC has recently launched its twitter channel at http://twitter.com/ITCnews; our YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/exportimpactforgood includes more than 400 videos.
