    • BudgetUSD 61,500

    Project objective

The main purpose of the planned project is to encourage youth in Tanzania to participate in product value addition activities in the bee-products sector, and also in the provision of services that encourage product diversification. The target group is mainly youth that are dealing in bee-products. Currently, over 3000 youth in Tanzania are involved in bee-products harvesting and collection, and trading these in the informal channels. This low value trading of bee-products does not generate opportunities for the youth because both the foreign buyers and consumers of bee-products prefer processed products and there is a huge demand in Tanzania itself for better bee-products. The project will provide market-driven product development solutions and seeking to also develop youth-led support services in areas such as technology based processing and quality management in the value chain. The project will also contribute to setting-up of a Youth Centre of Excellence in SIDO and which will serve as a channel through which future capacity building in other key export trade areas will be designed and delivered. This will complement the existing vocational training programmes offered by SIDO.
