This component is designed to provide participants with a solid overview of the global trading system, focussed on both trade policy and trade promotion issues. The component is composed of two modules and will build on existing data bases which have already been put into use by Apex-Brasil.
Trade information and dissemination: The Market Profile Methodology
The module on Market Profiles seeks to train market researchers on the methodology and tools to draft market profiles. These market profiles are concise reports on export products and include the elements of trade information required to penetrate effectively and efficiently a market: trade trend, market developments, tariffs and non-tariff measures, regulations, prices, packaging, and other market characteristics. The specific purpose of this course is to build the capacity of trade advisors to prepare:
·Custom-designed short reports, produced in a few days, on target markets to respond to the requests of client companies;
·In-depth market briefs for a larger audience to address general inquiries and provide useful background for interested exporters;
Participants will be able to draft reports to illustrate the feasibility of penetrating a targeted market and be able to present results of a market profile to a business oriented audience.
This activity aims at assisting participants to actively implement all the concepts presented in the previous modules on their day-to-day duties.
In addition, participants showing interest and potential to become trainers on market analysis techniques could undergo further coaching on presentation and training skills. The objective would be to build capacity among selected participants, enabling them to disseminate the information in the future.
One ITC consultant will be available for individual coaching and/or sessions with small groups. A coaching session of one week will be organized after the first and second workshop modules.
