INVESTING IN TRADE PROMOTION
GENERATES REVENUE
Trade promotion pays both in export and GDP
growth, according to this International Trade Centre
(ITC) report. The way trade promotion agencies are
managed also changes their impact on a country’s
prosperity. For every dollar of export promotion
invested in a national trade promotion organization
(TPO) there are US$ 87 of exports and US$ 384 of
additional GDP per capita generated on average,
according to the report. TPO choices on goals,
clients, sectors and activities affect their impact,
it says.

THE WELFARE OF PERUVIAN
COMMUNITIES

BRINGING SMEs ONTO
THE E-COMMERCE HIGHWAY
This report is a starting point for public-private
dialogue to address e-commerce bottlenecks,
especially for small firms in developing countries.
Such businesses face policy challenges in four
processes typical to all e-commerce: establishing
online business, international e-payment,
international delivery and aftersales. To improve
competitiveness, challenges must be met within
the firm, in the business environment and by
governments. The report provides checklists
for policy guidance as well as case studies
from e-commerce entrepreneurs in developing
countries.
