Colombian institutions introduced to ITC’s Non-Tariff Measures Programme (en)
Colombian institutions were introduced to the International Trade Centre’s (ITC) Non-Tariff Measures (NTMs) Programme, enabling them to better understand its scope, methodology and main objectives.
Representatives of 12 institutions involved in various parts of export and import processes met in Bogotá in late April to learn about the ITC Survey on NTMs in Colombia.
ITC and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism jointly launched the survey in February.
The survey identifies trade barriers faced by Colombian firms, as well as potential bottlenecks inhibiting trade. Members of the public and private sectors will be able to use this information, gathered from more than 800 interviews, to better understand the business environment and to use it as the basis to plan steps to boost the competitiveness of Colombian businesses.
In response to requests from attendees, ITC’s Market Analysis and Research Section is preparing a workshop on NTM classification for government officials.
The NTM survey in Colombia is funded by the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development and the Development Bank of Latin America.
