BRAZIL
Location
Brazil is the largest country in South American, located to the
east of the continent. It is bordered by French Guiana, Guyana and
Suriname to the north; Venezuela and Colombia to the northwest;
Peru to the west, Bolivia, Paraguay and Argentina to the southwest;
Uruguay to the south and the Atlantic Ocean to the East. Brazil has
a total area of 8,514,877 sq km. The climate varies between regions
but is mostly tropical and otherwise temperate.
Agricultural sector
Brazil's main agricultural products include indigenous cattle
meat, soybeans, indigenous chicken meat, sugar cane, whole fresh
cow milk, maize, indigenous pig meat, oranges, paddy rice and
cassava.
Brief overview of organic farming
There are approximately 7,250 organic producers in Brazil. The
country's total share of land under organic management is 1,765,793
hectares, making up 0.7%of national agricultural land. The
country's organic movement also includes organic land areas which
may or may not have been informally certified. Most of Brazil's
organic exports are coffee, banana, soybeans, and corn.

Brazil's key organic products include both raw and processed
goods: coffee, banana, soybeans, corn. Meat exports are increasing
rapidly. Juices, sugar, processed soy, organic textiles and
cosmetics.
The domestic market's products include fresh vegetables and
fruits, teas, coffee, mate tea, jams, oils, breakfast cereals and
dairy products.
