NTM Survey Overview:
The ITC NTM survey in Kenya aims to identify burdensome non-tariff obstacles to trade faced by the Kenyan business community. The survey was implemented in collaboration with a local company, Synovate Kenya Ltd in 2011. A total of 764 exporting and importing companies across various sectors were interviewed about their experiences dealing with NTMs.
ITC in collaboration with the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) published a country report on Kenya based on the the data and testimonials of the companies collected during the survey. The results of the survey were validated during the NTM stakeholder meeting, organized in collaboration with the Kenyan Ministry of Trade, in Nairobi on 26 February 2013. The issues discussed and recommendations formulated during the meeting have also been incorporated in the final report.
Results:
The below illustrates an overview of the types of NTMs and procedural obstacles faced by Kenyan companies in Kenya and in the partner countries. Statistics on women participation in companies from Kenya are also captured by the NTM business survey.
