The International Trade Centre (ITC) is contributing to this year’s ‘Latin America and Caribbean Week’ in France by co-hosting the roundtable ‘La compétitivité au-delà des normes: stratégies d’association et de développement durable dans les chaînes de valeur locales et mondiales’ at a conference organized by EULAC, IDA and CEREALE. The roundtable focuses on the role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in value chains that are led by buyers. ITC Senior Sector Development Officer Hernan Manson moderates the discussion at the Palais du Luxembourg in Paris on Monday, 30 May, from 13:30-15:30. It features experts from Fairtrade International, the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), Barnier SARL, Agexport, and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The roundtable addresses issues related to SME competitiveness, training methods, and types of cooperation between SMEs, in order to identify what needs to be in place to help producers to successfully and sustainably integrate into these value chains.
