ITC's work on trade and market analysis has been recognized with the prestigious Alan A. Powell Award for 2015 from the Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP).

GTAP is a global network of researchers and policymakers conducting quantitative analysis of international policy issues. The award was presented to Anders Aeroe, director of ITC's Division of Market Development and ITC's representative on the GTAP board, at a dinner on 18 June alongside the annual GTAP conference in Melbourne, Australia.

Set up in 1993, GTAP's goal is to improve the quality of quantitative analysis of global economic issues. Leading researchers have used GTAP data and analytical frameworks to calculate the economic implications of negotiations at the World Trade Organization, and of policy action to curb greenhouse gas emissions.

The Alan A. Powell award is named for one of GTAP's founders, an emeritus professor of econometrics at Monash University who was formerly a senior official with the Australian federal government. It is presented each year to recognize outstanding service by a member of the GTAP Advisory Board.
