The project is funded by the European Union (EU) through its Multiannual Indicative Programme (MIP) 2014-2020 for Myanmar which focuses on four sectors: (1) Rural development / Agriculture / Food and nutrition security, (2) Education, (3) Governance / Rule of law / State capacity building, and (4) Peacebuilding support. Myanmar is part of the 19 countries covered by development cooperation under the 2014-2020 Regional Multi annual Indicative Programme for Asia, which foresees complementary support to ensure that the country can benefit from enhanced trade with regional and global markets.The EU and MyanmarThe EU has been a key partner of Myanmar since 2011 and the country’s democratic transition. The EU’s overall diplomacy towards Myanmar is to promote peace, protect human rights, and encourage democracy, prosperity and the rule of law. Particularly, the EU in Myanmar is working towards fostering sustainable and inclusive growth.
