Launch of the 2nd E-commerce Discussion

Dear Colleague:

Welcome to ITC's second session in a series of three e-mail based discussions on e-trade.

From Wednesday, 27 September through Saturday, 30 September, ITC will host its Executive Forum on the Digital Economy in Montreux, Switzerland. We will be linking you to the live Executive Forum event through this e-mail forum. We will share with you excerpts of the discussions occurring in Montreux from Wednesday through Saturday. In turn, we will summarize your comments with participants of the Executive Forum so that your voice will be heard at this conference.

The Executive Forum brings together business and government leaders from 21 developing countries, plus international organizations. The meeting explores how exporters in developing countries can take advantage of electronic commerce.

The event is organized in partnership with the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (seco). Among the speakers at the opening session will be H.E. David Syz, Secretary of State, State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, Switzerland; Mike Moore, Director General, World Trade Organization (WTO); Mr. Rubens Ricupero, Secretary-General, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD); and Mr. J. Denis Bélisle, Executive Director, International Trade Centre (ITC).

To prepare yourself for this second session, please refer to the programme agenda and "propositions for debate" which have been prepared for the conference.

From Thursday through Saturday we will post summaries on this website and you will have the opportunity to provide feedback to the participants: representatives of trade development organizations, international organizations, the private sector and other decision makers.  To register, send an e-mail to join@itc-execforum.org.

We look forward to receiving all of your contributions.

With continued kind regards,

Natalie Domeisen (domeisen@intracen.org)
Sarah McCue (mccue@intracen.org)
