  • About the project 
    Linking Central American Women Business Enterprises with the Global Gifts and Home Decoration Marketis funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC) in collaboration with the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA) and national implementing partners. The beneficiary countries are Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama .

    Overall objective: Strengthen Central America´s capacity to trade in goods and services with a view to taking advantage of the EU‑Central America Association Agreement (AA).

    2.1Specific objective: Enhance the export competitiveness of Central American Women Business Enterprises (WBEs) producing craft products for the gifts and home decoration industry by enabling them to sell their products on‑line.

    Project duration: November 2017 – October 2021

    Final Beneficiaries: Rural and urban households involved in the production of crafts.
    Direct beneficiaries: 200 WBEs selling/exporting craft products for the gifts and home decoration industry.

    The five expected results of the project are:


    Expected result 1:

    WBEs have increased their export business management skills for online commercialization

    Expected result 2:

    WBEs’ products and services have exhibited enhanced design, quality and compliance with market trends and customers’ demands

    Expected result 3:

    WBEs have developed high quality electronic product listings and promotional material.

    Expected result 4:

    WBEs have established connections with business partners through increased presence on the Web

    Expected result 5:

    WBEs have acquired the technical knowhow to fulfil electronic buyers orders.
