    The Republic of South Sudan – the newest member of the United Nations family.

    The Republic of South Sudan, is the 193rd and most recent country to join the United Nations. Today, the country’s flag was raised for the first time at the Palais des Nation in Geneva, Switzerland.

    Friedrich von Kirchbach, ITC Director for the Division of Country Programmes, said;

    “As the United Nations focal point for trade and export development, the ITC is looking forward to working with the Republic of South Sudan to assist with its trade development and export promotion.”

    “ITC can extend its trade related technical assistance to establish and create the required trade institutions and schemes to build the capacities of the new independent State, allowing the country to better integrate into the global value chain. We look forward to working with the country and her citizens for the immediate future and for the longer term.”
