Tourism strategies (where they exist in developing countries) evolve
from the existing, local, leading-player dominated framework.
Strategies tend to be fragmented and uncoordinated. The ITC Tourism
Strategy Template is a CD-based, step-by-step process tool which is
not prescriptive. It enables the development of a tourism strategy,
formed through teamwork by leading representatives. The tool enables
local people to develop their own locally-specific strategy in a
global context of evolving tourism patterns, using international
definitions and statistical measures.
The template is for use by a “Core Team” drawn from government
and the private sector, with participation and consultation with all
interested parties and businesses. |
The Tourism Strategy Template is used in a series of working
sessions with the members of the Core Team.
