Enhancing Arab Capacity for Trade (EnACT) is an ITC
technical assistance programme funded by the Canadian International Development
Agency (CIDA). The principal objective of the EnACT programme is to
develop an integrated, competitive and diversified export sector within its
five program countries: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia.
A National Export Strategy (NES) for Jordan (launched in March 2010)
The principal
objective of the “Jordan National Export Strategy” project is to build up the
capacity of Jordan to formulate, manage and implement a national export
development strategy. The Jordanian NES focuses on field-level technical
interventions at the national level, on capacity-building, and on the dissemination
of best practices.In the framework of the above-mentioned
NES, the following activities have already been undertaken during the course of
2010:
- 50 people
participated in the National Export Strategy introduction seminar in March 2010
- In October 2010, 150
people participated in the National Export Strategy launch and stakeholder
consultations and a publication was tailored for designing Jordan`s export
strategy.
Export marketing and Branding for Jordanian enterprises (launched in June 2010)
The Jordanian
Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT) engaged the International Trade Centre in
2010 on a project to examine opportunities for initiating a Nation Branding exercise
in Jordan. This first phase of the Export Marketing and Branding work stream
involved two steps, a fact-finding mission which took place in June 2010; and a
Brand Discovery Roundtable organized in December 2010 with 30 participants
representing public and private entities.The activities planned for this exercise
include:
- Diagnostic of the
existing capacity building expertise available in Jordan in the field of export
marketing and branding for enterprises.
- A critical review of
existing place or sector or product branding experiences.
- Workshop on place,
sector and product branding.
- Draft strategy and
the proposal of a roll out plan for the place or sector or product.
- A restitution workshop organized to present
and discuss the findings.
