Programme objectives
The programme targets the following results and beneficiaries:
  • Trade support organizations will be jointly offering practical product/commodity- specific information briefs needed by existing and potential exporters.  Their capacity to deliver trade information and development services will have been enhanced partly through partnership/twinning agreements with sister organizations that can be a source of learning, information, expertise and tools and partly through implementation resources that can be used for outfitting offices;
  • Agro-processing enterprises that are exporting or have potential to export will have access to better/cheaper packaging and will be able to meet the packaging requirements of the buyers/market;
  • A number of Mozambican enterprises will have established commercial contacts with overseas buyers through market exposure missions. In this respect, particular emphasis is put on promoting market linkages in the following sectors: (a) engineering and construction; (b) wood products and (c) agro-food (particularly cashew nuts and citrus fruits). A special effort will be undertaken to include, where feasible enterprises from disadvantaged groups in activities fostering business linkages with buyers.
  • Women owned and managed business and business support institutions supporting them will have access to an exporter training and mentorship programme to help them capitalize on their export potential and to strengthen organizations that support women business entrepreneurs in particular.
  • The investment attraction and export development needs of Mozambican enterprises will be better served through an enhancement of the capacity of Trade Counsellors and officers in Mozambique’s embassies and consulates by providing them training and information that will assist them in providing effective support services to the Mozambican business community, in line with their economic diplomacy roles.
