The Country Focus Programme (CFP) is one of the activities in the PACCIA/PACT programme that focuses specifically on accessing the Canadian market. The CFP’s objective is to facilitate the entry of African exporters into the Canadian market by assisting their embassies and trade offices in Canada in expanding their trade promotion capacity.  The Canadian offices of all African countries may benefit from this service.

The CFP provides African missions and trade offices with information and advice on the Canadian market, custom-designed to the specific needs and product strengths of the country.  Utilizing this information, missions are assisted in developing a strategy and work plan for increasing their country’s exports to the Canadian market. The anticipated results are more effective trade promotion activities on the part of the African missions and more professional marketing assistance for African exporters leading to increased exports.

Under the CFP, African missions receive two, private, in-depth briefing sessions presented by TFOC’s Canadian market experts. In the first session, participants are introduced to information sources and basic information on the Canadian market, including guidance on product sectors offering the most potential for the specific country situation. The second briefing session presents a range of cost-effective candidate activities to increase African exports to Canada, and provides assistance in finalizing the mission’s work plan. In both sessions, participants receive detailed information on the services available to African exporters from TFOC in promoting their individual products and locating buyers in the Canadian market.

African diplomatic and trade missions wishing to participate in this programme may contact TFOC.
