The 11th Trade Promotion Organization Network World Conference will take place in Marrakech on 24-25 November.

(Geneva/Marrakech) Leaders from Africa and around the world will gather in Marrakech, Morocco, on 24-25 November 2016, for the 11th Trade Promotion Organization Network World Conference to discuss how best to connect exporters to the global economy.

Hosted by Maroc Export in partnership with the International Trade Centre, the theme of this year's event is Moving Forward: The Future of Trade and Investment Promotion. The conference will explore trends shaping the economic and social landscape in which trade and investment promotion organizations operate.

More than 150 representatives of the global network of trade and investment promotion organizations – including 50 representatives from Africa – are expected to gather at the biennial event to share best practices related to improving their strategies, updating measurement systems and tracking the impact of their work to enable small and medium-sized enterprises in their countries to more easily access new markets and do more business.

The conference will explore the role of technology in the day-to-day operations of these organizations. It will examine the role of standards for the international value chains of the future and the emergence of Africa as the next trade and investment destination. ‘Good practice’ parallel sessions will look at latest developments in global marketplaces and e-commerce, and how to manage effectively in the face of a complex and rapidly changing world.

The winners of the global Trade Promotion Organization Network Awards for national trade promotion organizations will be announced at a ceremony on the evening of 24 November. The awards recognize initiatives that demonstrate outstanding performance and innovative export-development solutions.

A virtual exhibition on ‘Made in Africa’ will be organized for 13 members of the network of African trade and investment promotion organizations from Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Guinea, Mali, Morocco, Senegal and the United Republic of Tanzania.
