Laws and regulations were on the agenda at a recent training session for small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurs held in Bangui, capital of the Central African Republic (CAR).
Thirty participants, including business consultants, entrepreneurs and members of women associations took part in the training on 20-23 June, which was organized in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Mines (CCIMA) and within the framework of ITC’s PACT II programme.
OHADA system
The course focused on training participants in the OHADA system of business laws, and used specially designed ITC material including the ITC OHADA Guide for Small Firms and the ITC OHADA booklet series, which for this session were adapted for the CAR. OHADA, or the
Organisation for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa, is a system of business laws and implementing institutions adopted by sixteen West and Central African nations.
In addition to the theoretical training, the course included practical case studies and exercises. A separate session was held on ITC’s pedagogic approach to train national experts who will use ITC material in training sessions in other cities in the Central African Republic.
Two further training session will be held during 2012 in Bambari and Berberati.
