The awards are hosted by UNCTAD’s Empretec programme, which supports the creation of sustainable small and medium-enterprises, and works to support entrepreneurs to build innovation and internationally-competitive enterprises.
Ms. Francis said the awards, which recognize women whose innovative ideas have led to job creation, ‘boost self-confidence and provide practical application of knowledge, playing a key role in unleashing the entrepreneurial potential of women.’
Awards were given to women entrepreneurs from Panama, Brazil and Jordan.
