European Union to work with ITC to strengthen connections with developing country SMEs

The European Commission and the International Trade Centre (ITC) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), establishing a partnership to promote the internationalization of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

ITC Executive Director Arancha González and Daniel Calleja, Director-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs in the European Commission, signed the deal in Brussels with a view to step up cooperation through business-to-business (B2B) events, mentoring programmes and the measurement of SME competitiveness.

The MoU is aimed at establishing stronger connections between the European Union and developing countries through the European Commission’s Missions for Growth initiative, the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs business-exchange programme and others.
