The
Gourmet Coffee Project
|
|
Gourmet
coffee is a high quality coffee, usually from a single estate or
from a single area. The combination of quality and the often
limited availability - the "exclusivity" - usually
commands a substantially higher price than for ordinary coffee.
Five
coffee producing developing countries have participated in a
three-year project for improvements of their coffees. The
project included selection of coffees, quality upgrading in the
fields, better processing methods and new ways of selling the final
project: Gourmet Coffee
The
benefits to the five countries - Brazil, Burundi, Ethiopia, Papua
New Guinea and Uganda - have been significant.
