MAS has received a number of positive and constructive comments from users of its market analysis portals and services. These are just a few:

“Organizations like ITC are in the business of making things happen…The WTO ITC partnership has been there for a long time and I personally support what they do. They have a track record of helping initiate trade flows. What ITC does well includes the publication of tariffs in a databank which is available to business so that they don’t have to make 50 phone calls when they want to export something…”

Pascal Lamy, Director-General, WTO
Video address to ITC's JAG, 25 April 2007

“…what you are doing is an enormous task, dealing with a long list of countries, different languages and cultures, some of which do not like to cooperate, and some of which their laws are not clear even within their own country, as is the case with the Russian Fed. Import tariffs on some items. There are other websites/databases that try to mimic what you are doing, but some research reveals that their databases are many times out of date, contradictory, and cumbersomely formatted.”

"The Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the WTO, Geneva has been granted a free access to the Market Access Map thanks to the support of SECO during the year 2006. This tool has been an important help to this Mission for its negotiations at the WTO and for analyzing the market situation of our trading partners. "

“I just got back from Suva attending the regional market access workshop and greatly appreciate the training package provided. I have learn't that this software is of vital importance to us (PNG Investment Promotion Authority), especially when undertaking market research for specific products to the world market. The PNG Investment Promotion Authority is responsible for the PNG EPA Investment Promotion & Protection Agreement (IPPA+) as well as researching special niche markets globally. In terms of market access issues of many of our products, this software gives much confidence to negotiate better with.”

"We have been using Trade Map and Product Map extensively in South Africa... We are currently in the process of adding analysis to Product Map's Product Performance Index (PPI) calculations and linking the PPI to local industry data in order to examine the relevance of individual Product Maps in the local context, in terms of contribution (directly and indirectly) to value added and employment."

“Back from Tbilisi, I wanted to thank you and your colleagues most sincerely for having given me access to the data files you maintain. It was extremely useful during the training sessions. I spoke to the officials about ITC's excellent work, but really the web-site did the job better than I could - everyone found it very useful indeed. I strongly encouraged them to join.”

"As a specialist I consider TradeSim the most advanced version of gravity model. But it seems that it may be strengthened by inclusion of bilateral institutional variables … Good luck and thank you for your work."

"In fact as a private business man I really enjoy by participating in this seminar. I think I have learned a lot from the seminar which is going to guide me in all my business activities. It is my wish that you organize such events once in a year so that we can upgrade our knowledge and think strategically.

Thank you and hope that you will invite me anytime you organize such educational and business-wise seminars like this."

"I am delighted to have been given permission to access TradeMap. In past terms I have used ITC's country pages extensively in my undergraduate International Trade classes. Your Revealed Comparative Advantage data and the outstanding graphical presentation of the Export Performance data are a teacher's delight and allow students to write country papers in a manner that would otherwise be quite unmanageable."

I benefited a lot through participation in the seminar in addition to being present at ITC, and this allowed me to interact with the best in the field of trade promotion, and I hope to stay in close contact with ITC.

Finally, a big thank you for all of your generous help."

"ITC is a technical cooperation organization whose mission is to support developing and transition economies, and particularly their business sectors. It has a wonderful collection of country data, so if you need to know how much vodka is imported to Azerbaijan or the principal exports of Zambia, this is the place to look."

"TradeMap and Trade Secrets are two very important tools of the trade, for they will allow for a more thorough understanding of the international marketplace...

The introduction by TIDCO of TradeMap and Trade Secrets is an important tool to assist entrepreneurs in Trinidad and Tobago in their export thrust. I wish to urge all entrepreneurs to make good use of the TradeMap and Trade Secrets. I myself am impressed with these two publications"
