Mr Willem van der Geest, OIC, Market Analysis and Research (the Netherlands)

Mr Willem van der Geest Mr van der Geest joined ITC on March 1, 2009 as Lead Economist.

Willem van der Geest, PhD Economics, University of Cambridge was educated in economics and social sciences at the Universities of Leiden, Stockholm and Cambridge. His thesis focused on ‘distribution-improving development policies’, applying the general equilibrium analysis to assess linkages between economic growth, public investment and personal income distribution.  

He has more than twenty years’ experience in the economics of development and advisory services fields. He has worked for the UN as a Macro-Economic Planner in Bangladesh, a Senior Economist in UNCTAD on "LDC Trade Diversification", as a Senior Research Economist for Eastern and Southern Africa in the ILO and as the Director of the European Institute for Asian Studies, Brussels.  His most recent employment was as a consultant acting as Team Leader of the Trade Sustainability Impact Assessment of the Europe-China Partnership and Cooperation Agreement for the European Commission.  

He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to edited volumes and consulted for international organizations. Following a competitive process,  he joined the International Trade Centre as its Lead Economist on March 1, 2009.

Ms Carolin Averbeck  (Germany)

Ms Carolin Averbeck Ms Averbeck joined ITC in 2006 as a consultant in the Market Analysis and Research Section, working in the Market Access Map team, having previously worked in UNCTAD in the ICT and
e-business branch. Ms Averbeck holds a Masters degree in international and development economics from the Fachhochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft in Berlin.
 

 

Mr Eric Buchot  (France)

Mr Eric Buchot

Mr. Eric BUCHOT joined the Division of Market Development of the International Trade Centre (ITC) in 2006 as a Market Analyst. Prior to this, he worked at UNCTAD’s Advisory Services on Investment, and as a Business Unit Manager for an international trading corporation in the high-tech industry. Mr BUCHOT’s field of responsibilities covers finance, project management and the implementation of market analysis and investment training programmes in developing and emerging economies. He holds a Master’s degree in both International Economy and Purchasing Management from Pierre Mendes France University. He speaks English, Italian and French.

 

 

 


Mr Kerfalla Conte
(Guinea Conakry)

 

Mr Kerfalla Conte Mr Kerfalla Conte joined ITC's Market Analysis and Research Section in 2005 as a Junior Consultant and Quantitative Analyst. He is in charge of statistical analysis and data processing for MAR's tailored studies team. Mr Kerfalla is also in charge of the production of trade indicators for Trade Competitiveness Map. Prior to joining ITC, Mr Kerfalla worked in the private sector as an Assistant Statistician in the marketing/client survey section of NEUFTELECOM in Paris. He also worked as an Assistant Statistician in the energy sector at EDF/RTE in Paris to implement the forecast processing. Mr Kerfalla holds three Master degrees in Mathematics (Morocco), in Statistics-Econometrics (Toulouse, France) and in International Economics from the University Paris 10.  

 

Mr Christian Delachenal (France)
 
Mr Christian Delachenal

Having joined ITC in 1994, Mr Delachenal developed and manages ITC's trade analysis tool Trade Map as well as the production of PC-TAS, a CD-ROM on product trade flows. Mr Delachenal has extensive experience in developing and delivering training materials and programs in trade flow and market analysis. He holds a Masters degree in statistics and computer science from the University of Lyon, France. Prior to joining ITC, Mr Delachenal worked in the private sector in various capacities including software development and distribution, project management and training.

Mr Christophe Durand Mr Durand joined ITC's Market Analysis and Research Section in 2004 as a consultant. Mr Durand is responsible for quantitative analysis related to the production of TradeMap. Mr Durand has a Masters degree in statistics and computer science from the University of Lyon, France.  


Mr Lionel Fontagné  (France)
 
Mr Lionel Fontagné An adviser to ITC's Market Analysis and Research Section as one of the developers of Market Access Map.  He has authored or co-authored numerous studies on international trade and integration issues.  Mr. Fontagné has been Director of the CEPII since March 2000. He is a member of the Conseil d'Analyse Economique (Council of Economic Analysis) and is Professor in economics at the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne since 1994 and was at the University of Nantes from 1990 to 1994. He received an award in 1999 from the Open Economies Review for his joint-contribution to the debate on the endogenous symmetry of shocks in monetary unions.  


Ms Takako Ikezuki
(Japan)

Ms Ikezuki joined ITC's Market Analysis and Research Section in November 2006 and is responsible for writing and preparing data for MAR' tailored studies team. Ms Ikezuki previously worked in the WTO's Integrated Database Section as a junior statistical officer. Ms Ikezuki holds a Masters degree in International Studies from Johns Hopkins University in Washington D.C.  


Mr Mathieu Lamolle
(Belgium)

Mr Mathieu Lamolle Mr Lamolle joined the Division of Market Development of ITC in October 2007 as a Consultant Market Analysis. Mr Lamolle has extensive experience in developing countries delivering training programs and providing technical advice on multilateral and regional market access issues and trade negotiations. Mr Lamolle has performed the masters degree in science of management at the Solvay Business School, he participated in the executive programme at the Tsinghua University in Beijing and in the executive programme at the World Trade Institute in Bern.

Helen Lassen (Australia)

Ms Helen Lassen

Ms Lassen joined ITC's Market Analysis and Research Section in November 2003 and is responsible for a range of the Section's capacity building activities. Previously Ms Lassen was employed for 10 years with the Australian Trade Commission and spent some of these years as Trade Commissioner in Germany and Sweden. In Sweden, Ms Lassen was responsible for Austrade's involvement in eMarket Services, an international joint venture between trade promotion organisations. Prior to joining Austrade, Ms Lassen was employed for two years with the Japan External Trade Organisation, JETRO and has also experience in the finance/insurance industry. Ms Lassen holds a degree in Economics from the University of Sydney.

Mr Mathieu Loridan Mr Loridan joined the Market Analysis and Research Section of ITC in November 2003. Mr Loridan is responsible for collating tariff quota information and antidumping duties as part of the delivery of Market Access Map. Mr Loridan has an economics degree from the University of Lyon.

Mr Olivier Marty

Mr Marty joined ITC's Market Analysis and Research Section in January 2007 and is responsible for marketing and client relations, having previously worked a French high-tech company as a business development assistant and as a marketing assistant in a sport retail company in Ecuador. Mr Marty holds a Masters degree in business administration from Grenoble Business School and a Masters in Sports Management from the University of Poitiers in France.

 


Mr Mondher Mimouni (Tunisia)

Mr Mondher Mimouni

Mr Mimouni joined ITC in 1999 in the Research and Development Group, as a Market Analyst and is the programme manager of Market Access Map.  Mr. Mimouni has also developed the Trade Performance Index for assessing and monitoring the export performance and competitiveness of countries. He holds an M.Phil. equivalent in Development Economics from the Economic University of Montpellier, an MS in Agricultural policy and Development Administration from the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM-Montpellier) and is currently completing a PhD at the University of Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne).

Mr Xavier Pichot Mr Pichot joined the Market Analysis and Research Section in January 2001. Mr Pichot is a Market Analyst in the Market Access Map team and is in charge of the tariff information processing.

Mr Alain Rivière Mr Rivière joined ITC's Market Analysis and Research Section in 2008 as a web developer consultant. He is currently responsible for the development of the Trade Map application. Mr Rivière has a Master Degree in Computer Science from the University of Lyon, France.  


Mr Greg Sampson
(Australia / France)

Mr Greg Sampson

Mr Sampson joined ITC's Market Analysis and Research Section in September 2006 as a consultant on Market Analysis and Training. Mr. Sampson assists MAR trainers by preparing all materials required during a workshop delivery. He also ensures that all training material is up to date and available in French, English, Spanish and Portuguese. Mr. Sampson holds a Masters degree in Politics of the World Economy from The London School of Economics (LSE).

 


Ms Olga Skorobogatova (Uzbekistan)

Ms Olga Skorobogatova Ms Skorobogatova joined ITC in August 2007 as a consultant in the Market Analysis and Research team. Ms Skorobogatova previously worked in the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, and holds an MSc in International Strategy and Economics from the University of St Andrews, Scotland and D.E.A. in International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland.

Mr Frank Thomas Mr Thomas joined ITC's Market Analysis and Research Section November 2006 and is responsible for trade and tariff data treatment. Mr Thomas holds a technical degree in data treatment and analysis from Pierre-Mendes France University in Grenoble.

Vaca-Eyzaguirre
(Bolivia)

Ms Carla Vaca-Eyzaguirre Ms Vaca joined the Market Analysis and Research Section in May 2005 as a consultant. Ms Vaca is part of the Market Access Map team and is in charge of the analysis of the Preferential Trade Agreements. Ms Vaca is a Bolivian national with a degree in Economics from the University of Sorbonne and is currently completing a PHD in Economics at the same university.

Ms Laurence Zandomenighi Ms Vauclin joined ITC's Market Analysis and Research Section in 2005 as a Senior Secretary in the Market Access Map team and is also responsible for data collection.

 

 


Mr Oliver von Hagen
  (Germany)

Mr von Hagen joined ITC's Market Analysis and Research Section in 2008 as an Associate Expert. He is a German national who has been working in Malawi with the Growing Sustainable Business Project of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Malawi Coffee Association. Moreover he is active in academic research publishing papers on the concept of institutional entrepreneurship and on multi stakeholder project analysis. He holds a Master in Business Administration and Communication.
