Suggested layout of a market brief

Since market briefs are designed to facilitate access to import markets through the provision of appropriate information, their content should provide practical answers to questions exporters ask. These questions, in principle, apply to any product and can thus be grouped under common headings. Organizations implementing market briefs programmes follow ITC's recommended format.

L. List of sources

It may not always be possible to obtain and provide information on all of the headings listed above. The recommended layout should therefore be used as a check-list of major subject areas to be taken into consideration when preparing a market brief. For certain products and markets, a shorter market brief covering selected headings may be sufficient to provide exporters with the basic information required. In addition, when market opportunities need to be communicated very rapidly to enterprises, a "market news flash" can be prepared giving, for example, an overview of the market (statistical data and main characteristics) and a list of importers.
