The Association of Flower Auctions in the Netherlands - VBN is working on restructuring the VBN product code file. The aim is to organise the coding file so that all products are coded according to one standard.

In the context of restructuring its product code file, the VBN will introduce several new product codes and replace existing ones. These measures will affect product codes in which colours, appearance or other information is stated in the name.

Users of these codes would find it easier to identify products uniquely (searching, filtering, and comparing).

The international (digital) trade is facilitated and offers an efficient settlement of product transactions.

The product codes in question will be replaced with new ones. It is possible to use both the current and the new VBN product codes until 31 December 2013.

This revision covers the following product groups:

    • Cut flowers: Anthurium, Chrysanthemum, Narcissus, Gloriosa, and Various Cut flowers.
    • House plants: Potted bulbs, Dracaena, Yucca, and Hydrangea house and garden plants, Kalanchoe, and Various     House plants.
    • Garden plants: Hydrangea house and garden plants, and Various Garden plants
