Established in 1978 and located in Durban, Michelle Footwear is a leading manufacturer of ladies leather footwear in South Africa. Known through their Froggie trade name, the company has distinguished itself through initiating a project with Clarks of the UK called Soul of Africa to manufacture specially designed, hand stitched moccasin shoes employing rural women from disadvantaged communities (currently 69). Part of the proceeds of the sale of the current production of 300 pairs per day goes to a home for Aids Orphans.
The company's main factory produces 1,900 pairs per day, and employs 350 people. The company manufactures closed shoes, Sandals and moccasins under the Froggie and Soul of Africa brands. |
