Feltex Automotive Leathers (FAL) is one of the largest automotive tanneries in South Africa, producing leather for automotive seating, door panels, gear boot covers and gear lever covers. It also produces leathers for the furniture and aviation industries. The company originated in Silverton, Pretoria in 1920 and moved to Ladysmith, Natal in 2000. Daun and Cie became the majority shareholder in 2003. The current capacity is 4000 hides per day. FAL is a supplier to Daimler Chrysler, Toyota, General Motors and Mitsubishi and adheres to the highest quality standards and has ISO 9001(2000), ISO14001 (2004) and ISO/TS 16949(2002) accreditation.The capacity of FAL is 6000 hides per week; current throughput is 2000 hides per week. FAL currently employs 200 people. |
