This course aims to assist permanent missions and international organisations in Geneva to deal with fast emerging digital commerce issues. It will provide an interdisciplinary coverage of e-commerce, from both digital and trade perspectives. The course will be delivered by the Geneva Internet Platform (GIP), in partnership with the International Trade Centre (ITC), the Consumer Unity & Trust Society (CUTS International), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and DiploFoundation.
In the context of e-commerce's increasing relevance in international trade, this joint course by ITC and Diplo Foundation is designed to help participants better understand the multifaceted concept of e-commerce, the opportunities it offers to SMEs, and the steps necessary to create an enabling environment allowing for a greater uptake of e-commerce by both businesses and consumers.
As services are becoming more “tradable”, countries increasingly look into services trade as a means to diversify their exports and improve economic efficiency. This course introduces participants to the different aspects of competitiveness in trade in services, with the aim of identifying specific actions to enhance it.
This course examines the role of standards and best practices as keys to competitiveness for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) involved in information technology (IT) and IT-enabled services (ITES) outsourcing.
