  • NTM survey overview:

Following a formal request from Bangladesh’s Ministry of Commerce, ITC will launch survey on NTMs in Bangladesh in April 2014. The survey will be implemented in collaboration with the Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) and SRG Bangladesh Limited (SRGB).

ITC experts will visit Bangladesh in March 2014 to train interviewers, meet with stakeholders and monitor the launch of interviews. The survey seeks to shed light on trade barriers faced by Bangladeshi firms and to identify potential bottlenecks inhibiting trade. This information will allow the public and private sectors to better understand the current business environment and to identify concrete actions to promote the development of Bangladeshi firms and the competitiveness of exports.

Starting from April 2014, more than 1,000 interviews will be carried out by SRGB. Companies are encouraged to participate in interviews and to report the burdensome NTMs and other obstacles to trade they face in Bangladesh and abroad. Responses will be strictly confidential. ITC will provide the Ministry of Commerce only with a summary of results.
