The Third International Conference on Small Island Developing States will be held from 1-4 September 2014 in Apia, Samoa, and will be preceded by related events including the Private Sector Forum on 30-31 August. The conference aims to focus the world’s attention on a group of countries that face particular challenges in achieving sustainable economic development.
The overarching theme of the conference is "The sustainable development of small island developing States through genuine and durable partnerships".ITC has registered three partnership initiatives in the framework of the SIDS Conference that underline its commitment to supporting inclusive, sustainable economic development in SIDS.
ITC and the Government of Samoa will jointly organize a side event and a parallel event as part of the conference. The ITC Executive Director will take part in plenary discussions and the Partnership Dialogue on Sustainable Economic Development, as well as the Private Sector Forum sessions.
