Our mission is to provide the highest quality support to our partner countries’ governments, business communities and support institutions, in their efforts to apply best practice in procurement and supply chain management to promote enterprise competitiveness, improve overall trade performance and ensure cost-effective use of national resources.
 

  VISION


Our vision is to be recognised as a centre of excellence in providing technical cooperation to developing countries and economies in transition in the area of procurement and supply chain management. We intend to be considered as the partner of choice of institutions working in this area, and to lead the development of a network of governmental, non-governmental and private sector bodies cooperating in this area to serve the developing world.
 

  OBJECTIVES


Our objectives are to assist developing countries and economies in transition to:

  1. Build greater awareness of the contribution that better procurement and supply chain management can make to enterprise competitiveness and to overall organisational and country performance, and to better understand the key processes and issues that this area involves.

  2. Develop national training, consultancy and information support facilities capable of effectively serving their private and public sector procurement and supply chain management professional communities.

  3. Help their SMEs to develop their export capabilities by taking better advantage of business opportunities generated by the public sector and by the international aid agency procurement marketplaces.

  4. Make the improvement of procurement and supply chain operations a key component of their national export development strategies.

  5. Support the integration of local enterprises in priority sectors into effective national and international supply chains.

  6. Identify and deal with key problems and issues in the national environment that inhibit effective and efficient procurement and supply chain management by the private and public sectors

  STRATEGY


Our strategy to achieve these objectives involves:

  1. Developing support programmes and projects that are based on – and effectively respond to – identified customer requirements and priorities.

  2. Building up a core team of highly qualified staff at ITC headquarters to develop and manage the key areas of our work domain.

  3. Developing a roster of high-calibre experts who can complement our own capabilities and know-how, and be called upon to help us meet our customers’ support requirements as and when needed.

  4. Building productive partnerships with other recognised institutions and centres of excellence worldwide to make cost-effective use of their capabilities, expertise, services and tools when serving our customer organisations.

  5. Producing and delivering generic technical tools and materials in purchasing & supply chain management that can cost-effectively meet our customers’ core requirements, with further local adaptations as needed.

  6. Developing national, regional and international networks of our private and public sector customer organisations, aimed at facilitating exchanges of relevant experiences, information and technical tools and materials, and at promoting collaborative approaches to solving common problems.
