The Institution's Manager Briefcase is structured in three major sections, namely:

Section 1: Defining Your Business

The section starts out by analyzing the externa and internal environment of the institution with the objective to provide management with a better understanding of the market opportunities and the institutional capacity. Once this step has been completed, the Guide explains how to develop the institution's mission and objectives and define valid strategies to achieve these objectives.
By completing this section, the management will have elaborated its business definition alongside appropriate institutional strategies.

Section 2: Managing Your Institution

The section 'Managing Your Institution' addresses areas related to the management of the institution as a whole. Special emphasis is laid on the development of the business plan and the implementation of some management key issues.
By completing this section, the management will have developed a complete business plan, have a better understanding of some key issues, like quality & accreditation or intellectual property, and implemented a proper mechanism for internal evaluation and development.

Section 3: Delivering Your Programmes

Section 3 provides specific know-how for the delivery of individual programs and projects. Special emphasis is laid on the development of the programme plan and/or project proposal.
By completing this section, the management will have created a programme plan or proposal. Further, programme management will have obtained a better understanding of some key issues, like fundraising or event organisation. Section 3 also provides valuable assistance and information on how to evaluate implemented projects/programmes and to derive lessons learned for future activities.

The Guide provides for each specific topic and sub-topic support in the form of:
