When identifying donors, you might consider the following typical donor groups:

  • Multilateral donors (e.g. United Nations, European Union, World Bank, international foundations)
  • Bilateral donors (e.g. foreign embassies with national development budgets, technical assistance agencies such as: DFID (UK), GTZ (Germany), SECO (Switzerland), SIDA (Sweden), USAID (USA)…)
  • Public sector entities in your country (e.g. government, ministries, government agencies for SME development, trade promotion)
  • Businesses and industry associations
  • Other sources (e.g. private foundations, fund raisers, religious institutions)
