"The website increased our customer base to 2000. We are now receiving numerous inquiries from customers
in foreign countries about our recipes. Most of them know us from the website.
In the future, we are planning to charge membership fees."

"We received an inquiry from an importer based in South Africa (Flowers in Victoria) who has
placed a sample order. We hope that this will grow to volume orders. Our website has expanded the geographical scope of our market."

"How Del Tropico benefited from the e-Nabling Programme.
It was since the year 2002 that the company had planned to design its own website, but the project was constantly being postponed in order to give priority to other activities. It was until the development of the
e-Nabling Case at the company that a sense of urgency took over the website project. That is, if you like, the first benefit the
e-Nabling Programme brought to the company, since a team of persons was finally and formally formed in order to make some research among competitors´ websites and to develop the company’s own website concept.
Other important benefits, among others are:
-
Greater knowledge on competitors’ products: the website design started by visiting and analyzing a series of websites from competitor companies, thus helping Del Tropico to review and improve its differentiation strategy.
-
Cost reduction in catalogue distribution: the company’s products are sold mainly through catalogues and trade fairs. Catalogues are expensive to produce and to distribute. Having the whole catalogue on the website has considerably reduced production and distribution costs.
-
Faster and wider access to potential customers: visitors at trade fairs and other potential customers kept demanding a website in order to learn about the company and its new products, and to refer it to other customers or partners. The reaction to these demands is not only faster now, but also wider in its range, allowing the company to reach more potential customers."

"I am very excited that we are finally online... Before I got
introduced to this ITC sponsored www initiative, I had been approached by
various website development companies and their focus had been more on
design than anything else... My problem was that once I will have a website
then what... In developing the website we now have a catalogue of all our
products which we did not have before due to the various products we
manufacture and the short life of the product did not justify printing a
catalogue in full colour which is a rather expensive exercise here in
Kenya... Secondly, after having three retail outlets, this in a way acts as
a fourth outlet and a showcase to the world, which we hope will encourage
growth for our company... On the whole I feel we have achieved a goal which
for a long time we had hoped for."

"As an immediate result of the work carried out we already found an Italian partner and our commercial relations will improve within 2004 as share holders in our company. We will soon start to work with some European companies in project bases and some others to follow up technological improvements in the ceramic sector. Our business has become a good combination of art and trade and above all a pleasure. When I was introduced to a Consultant for this project I thought it was nothing but a waste of time, and everything I would hear would be from a tale, and all I needed was money, however, when I think of what we have done until now in such a short time I feel as a hero in a tale and I am proud of my business. It is not easy to express how grateful I am to people who I never met, Dr. Ataç and everyone, as far as I learned ITC staff, but anyway, thank you very much for your assistance in making a very small enterprise, located in a very small district of a small city, globally known and respected".
