In the first quarter of 2005, ITC conducted a global survey on who does what in the field of packaging research and education in the world today. This survey was conducted by identifying relevant web sources and auditing contents of the web sites. The links contained in the following list are the results of this global survey.

The organizations audited are: packaging associations, packaging research centres and institutions that teach packaging, certain private corporations.
Five clusters were identified in the analysis:

1. Associations: typically the packaging organisations,

2. Research Centres: all kind of organizations that are doing research and testing in the field of packaging,

3. Standards and regulatory institutions: all bodies that set comprehensive standards in the field of packaging on a national, regional or international level,

4. Teaching institutions: places where packaging related courses are taught – from Universities to packaging schools,

5. Private corporations: companies that are offering information on packaging, publishers.
