Firms in developing countries are
exporting successfully. ITC presents some of their stories below,
gathered with the help of its partner institutions in developing and
transition economies. .
There is no question that export success is a result of hard work and determination, but these exporters also possess today’s "star" qualities of creativity, initiative and openness to change. With annual export revenues of hundreds of thousands of US dollars – and sometimes more – they and their staff demonstrate international marketing skills and high levels of customer service. Yet in most cases, it has not been plain sailing, with companies facing obstacles as varied as import quotas, packaging and labelling requirements and unscrupulous buyers. Find out, in their own words, how they have overcome or side-stepped these obstacles. A common solution was to make good use of the trade support services available to them, from assistance with trade shows to advice on trade financing. ITC partnered with trade support institutions in developing and transition economies to identify export success stories, and to indicate "success factors".
