e-Trade Development
Unit
Focusing on
the “e” dimension of technical co-operation
The prime objective of the e-Trade Development Unit is building capacity
in e-trade in developing countries and economies in transition. It
also acts as the corporate focal point of e-commerce activities.
The Unit is built around core institutional competencies to help export managers and strategy makers in developing countries and transition economies to cope with fast-moving technology driven global markets.
Over the next three years the e-Trade Development Unit will work to:
- Analyze and showcase a progression of e@work at the enterprise level from the Geneva 2003 phase of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) to the Tunis 2005 phase of the Summit;
- Facilitate the integration of “e” dimensions into national export strategy planning and business-to-business (B2B) trade development;
- Build and enhance the e-Business Network as a tool for further integration into global e-marketplaces;
- Showcase evolving trends in e-business practice such as cyber marketplaces and B2B platforms, through e-Business
Forums.
