Welcome to e@ITC
Helping to put
"e" to work in Developing Countries and Transition Economies
ITC's e-Trade Network
aims to support SMEs in developing countries and economies in
transition that wish to make the transition to the digital economy.
It acts as a single
window access to ITC's e-facilitated trade development activities in
the areas of:
- Creating the
e-Trade Environment: This section explains ITC's corporate
e-strategy and how "e" can be put to work to boost SME
competitiveness. It provides information on the e-Trade Bridge
programme for SMEs, ITC's flagship programme for creating
successful e-competent businesses, and well as ITC expertise in
the areas of e-finance, legislation and export strategy design.
- Traditional
Business in New Ways: Although the new marketplace is becoming
virtual, business needs remain the same. Businesses still need to communicate with customers, procure materials, make deals and deliver services.
This section shows how information and communications technologies give
SMEs opportunities to trade goods and services more efficiently and reach new markets.
It also showcases how women are taking advantage of the
digital economy.
- e-Business
Opportunities: Technologies open up completely new product and service niches. Back office operations, manufacturing high-tech components,
and B2B marketplaces are some of the opportunities firms in developing countries have been exploiting.
- e-Trade
Resources: This section offers a selection of ITC books,
technical papers, CDs and articles on e-trade. It also provides
access to areas not covered by ITC activities such as e-waste and
system security.
You are also invited to read our 'e@Work'
newsletter, a quarterly online publication which reports on e-commerce trends
of interest to SME managers and e-policy makers.
We also provide discussion
forums where you discuss issues relating to the adoption of ICT
by SMEs in developing countries.
