     ACCESS! Tanzania focused on localizing the women entrepreneurs in the sectors such as handicrafts, textiles and food processing. although, the majority of the known exporters are found in the urban areas such as Dar es Salaam, emerging exporters from regions were not left behind as sometimes one finds exporters in the urban acting as intermediaries for those in the rural. Through ACCESS!  phase I, followed by a complementary project by Proinvest, 160 women were promoted and enabled to break trough to the international market.

    Current 2011, ACCESS! phase II will come back to refresh those women targeted in the 1st phase with a better focus on their sectors and a thematic training to understand better their position on the international market. In the years, ACCESS! Tanzania has been integrated as one of SIDO-WED activities and is well known among the business community in Tanzania and specifically the SMEs on issues pertaining to accesssing foreign markets. In the long term, ACCESS! Tanzania will have reached a sustainable programmes for export capacity building with a strong focus on women entrepreneurs.

    sidoThe Women Entreprise Development  (SIDO/WED), ACCESS! focal point institution in Tanzania, is a leading business support orgnization for Smalll and Medium Entreprises with offices over the 21 regions of Tanzania offering several services such as the entrepreurship, technical and business managment skills programme, technology and product development, women entreneurship development programme (WED), information on markets, new technologies and capacity building for associations, etc. Trough the WED Programme initiated by SIDO and UNIDO, over 8,000 women entrepreneurs have received training and follow-up services. this and other reasons made WED/SIDO to be selected as hosts to the ACCESS! project. SIDO's get its support from the government and other donors, while other activities are self-financed. For more information, please visit SIDO website
