Paraguay has a fast growing economy mainly based in agriculture. The country has benefit from the increasing world demand for commodities combined with higher prices. The country faces development challenges including poverty and inequality and deficient infrastructure. Key trade issues include the lack of diversification with an economy based on a few primary commodities and the low value-added. The Government is working to promote investment in the industrial sector, strengthen social policies. ITC continues to coordinate its work with the local counterparts to address Non-tariff barriers for an efficient SMEs integration.
