Argentina is the third largest economy in Latin America and benefits from a large variety of natural resources, a well-educated population and a relatively diversified industrial base. The services sector is the largest in the country. Argentina’s developmental challenges include reducing high inflation, high levels of poverty and inequality and achieving good governance.
As a G20 member, Argentina seeks to conclude negotiations of the WTO Doha round, in which the elimination of agricultural subsidies remains a key issue, and to reduce dependence in commodity-based exports and increase export value-added. Government Priorities include strengthen the social security system; boost innovation and improve infrastructure, particularly roads; and finalize the restructuration of its sovereign debt.
ITC continues to coordinate its work in the country through the existing leading Trade Support Institutions. ITC aims to work both at national and provincial level. SMEs integration into regional and global value chains is a priority for future interventions
